April 14, 2023, the Guinness World Record for the fastest smash was broken using a Nanoflare 1000 Z.
The testing took place at a gymnasium at Yonex Co. Ltd's Tokyo Factory in Soka, Saitama, Japan.
Attempting the record were Wang Chi Lin, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, Ratchanok Intanon, Thinaah Muralitharan and Tan Pearly.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy of India achieved a smash speed, under independant test conditions, of 565km/h. Tan Pearly of Malaysia holds the women's record with a smash speed of 438km/h.
Measurement Method:
The moments of impact in the actual smash was captured using a high-speed camera.
The instant velocity of the shuttle after the impact was then calculated from the photographic recordings by a third-party institution.
Calculation Method:
The movement distance and elapsed time of the shuttle were calculated between two coordinates.
Instant velocity was calculated based on distance, time and speed measurement, and the changes in the flying speed of the shuttle were visualised using a graph.

To put it into context, the recorded speed was faster than that of a Formula 1 car.
